This review is from: Top Grade! THKFISH Telescopic Fishing Rod Retractable Fishing Pole Rod Free Shipping Rod Brand name:THKFISH (Misc.)
This thing is the nicest, most well built rod I’ve ever owned and it only weight 5oz. I paired it with the Shakespeare synergy titanium microcast reel. Together it only weighs 10 ounces. I will gladly carry that in my pack in order to eat alpine fish in the back country. Built to last and excellent craftsmanship. Oh, and they don’t tell you in the description, but the handle extends out further too. It unscrews and almost doubles.

I was on the fence about purchasing this rod since it came from China or Hong Kong. I took a chance and was surprised with the quality!! The rod pictured on the site shows 8 eyelets but mine had 6 (I purchased the 6.8ft rod and believe the one pictured on the site is the longer one). Also, what you can’t see in the pictures is that the rod handle extends an additional 6-8 inches which can be helpful in controlling the rod when bringing fish in. I would consider the rod a medium action (maybe slightly more sensitive then medium action). Just as a comparison, The 6.6ft Shakespeare telescopic rod (if you own one) I would consider a light medium and the Mako telescopic rod a heavy medium. The material of the rod is consistent throughout except for the top segment (Maybe wood which makes it more sensitive). I’ve caught bass ranging from 1-6 lbs and the rod handled the fights well. It was sensitive enough to let me know something was at the other end. I’ve also caught King Salmon and never thought the rod would break but had to be careful I didn’t set the drag on my reel really high.
Some Pros: -They eyelets were set evenly and was not crooked (I have 2 Shakespeare telescopic rods and they are of cheap material and were crooked. The contact points on the Shakespeare rod were also loose and I had to glue them into place). -The line slid smoothly against the guides (I used braided line) when casting. -When casting really hard the eyelets/guide stayed aligned. (the guides on my Shakespeare rod would be misaligned when I would cast hard/far out. -Light weight and retracts to a small size. -The compartment in the handle. I don’t think the compartment is functional since the rod retracts into it but was a nice bonus.
Some cons: -I’ve tried several reels, including my Avenger 30 baitcaster, and would notice a slight jiggle when in the reel seat. I tried to tighten the screw as hard as I could but that didn’t help much. I overcame this by placing a thick piece of cardboard at the top and bottom of the reel (part that hold the reel in place) and between the rod and reel. There is no more jiggling but the reel would move side to side depending on the force used, which I can overlook ( A thicker piece of cardboard might fix this) -The screw that you turn to lock the reel in place doesn’t feel secure and would loosen up, especially if bringing in fish (very bothersome). I overcame this issue by taking zip tie and zipping in just underneath the screw which did a good job of preventing the screw to loosen.
Bottom line: if you can overlook the cons then this rod will last a very long time. The quality of the rod exceeds the price I paid and will be in the market for more. I live in the Midwest and the rod arrived right around 2 weeks.

This rod is well made, excellently designed and engineered. Bought the 6’8″, a tad stiff but very good action and extremely sensitive. The handle (below the reel) also extend telescopically for better balance and leverage. If you are cleaver, you can even custom balance the rod with weights, as the handle is hollow and has it’s own screw cap. Very happy with overall quality and feel of this rod. Did I mention it’s beautiful. 😉
