This review is from: 110 PCs Orbrium Toys Multi-Level Wooden Train Track Expansion Pack with Stackable Track Riser Stabilizers Generic Fits Thomas Brio Chuggington Set (Toy) This expansion pack has all the essential pieces to create a large variety of different train layouts. The large quantity of 3.5 inch curved pieces is particularly helpful when working on a train table with limited space, and the combination of ascending track, support blocks, and male-to-male and female-to-female adapters makes this expansion truly unique from others I’ve seen. While I don’t regret purchasing the set for my 2-year-old son, I must say that I am disappointed in the track quality. I’m not a Thomas-purist by any means, but this set of track is the POOREST quality track in our set (including Thomas, Brio, Melissa and Doug, and Maxim). Some pieces had significant “chunks” missing, there was inconsistency in the wood coloring, and many of the the female cut-outs in particular had jagged splinters of wood around the edges. I had to hand-sand about 25% of the track before allowing my son to play with the set. I’ve NEVER had to do that before with any other brand track! Quality issues aside, the orange plastic bridge supports have provided hours of play for my son. I don’t normally purchase plastic toys for him, so I suppose it only makes sense that those would be his favorite part of the set. He stacks them high on top of each other and fills them with other toys, such as matchbox cars, small blocks, and even Suretrack connectors. He enjoys this activity greatly. My overall advice:If you are looking for an inexpensive, all-inclusive set that gives you many fun options right out of the box, then this would be a great starter set. Most kids could care less about quality until they’re much older. If YOU care about track craftsmanship or would like to keep your set as an heirloom for extended family or grandchildren, then I’d suggest starting with a smaller, higher-quality set, and expand it slowly through small, meaningful gifts over time. It becomes exciting for the child to get a new and special piece, allows them to learn about constructing layouts at a gradual pace, and it also gives relatives ideas for gifts that they know for sure the child will cherish. My 3 year old grandson plays with a wide variety of trains on these tracks. I did modify the bridge pieces so they do not fall over as easily. What I did was buy some velcro type strips with sticky backing. I put a rectangle of the hook side on the block and then cut little pieces of the fuzzy side to stick to the underside of the track. I also joined the blocks together with little rectangles of strips. After several hours of play, he has not knocked the track off the bridge blocks. This review is from: 110 PCs Orbrium Toys Multi-Level Wooden Train Track Expansion Pack with Stackable Track Riser Stabilizers Generic Fits Thomas Brio Chuggington Set (Toy) I bought this train track set as a gift for my son. I often play along with him as well. Overall I am pleased with it. There are definitely some drawbacks though. On one of the pieces, the female connector slot wasn’t completely cut right, so it doesn’t fit into the other pieces. I should be able to fix that with a little bit of sandpaper though. Another piece started to chip not long after we had the set. These are both understandable since this brand of track is significantly less expensive than some other brands. The one thing that bothers me most though is that the 3.5″ curve tracks don’t turn exactly 45 degrees like the 6.5″ curve tracks. The result is that it takes more approximately nine of the 3.5″ curve tracks to make a circle, instead of eight. Even then, they don’t quite fit together right. This is especially troublesome in trying to make a track that will turn back to cross over itself at a perpendicular angle. For example, it is nearly impossible to make a figure eight style track with the Cross track using the 3.5″ curve tracks. Adding to the frustration is the fact that the 3.5″ curve tracks are the most numerous type of piece in the set. I guess you could use them to make a triangle, or nonagon shaped track, but I would prefer it if they fit in better with the other potential track layouts.Despite the one major flaw, I would still suggest this product, and I would definitely buy it again if I could go back and do it over again. I don’t think that I would buy a second set though. 24 oddly shaped pieces are bearable. I don’t think that I could stand 48.I am giving this product a three star rating because I believe that the product itself is truly about average. It has its problems, but it isn’t trash either. If I were to rate it based on how good of a value it is for the price (about $60 when I bought it), I would say that it is above average.
