This review is from: Bachmann Trains E-Z Model Railroads Track Planning Book (Toy) I found this book very informative and useful as I start into model trains. I am an experienced modeller but mainly with aircarft and ships with some dabling in dioramas. My kids are big into Thomas wooden railway and I thought that model trains would be a nice natural progression; trouble was I had no experience with model trains. I dropped into a model train store and had a chat to them and brought a starter set. This was how I became aware of Bachmann’s E-Z Track but before I launched into anything serious I need to do more research. I trolled the internet and whilst there was plenty of useful information there was no cohesive single source. So I decided to buy a book. The title of this one caught my eye so I ordered it. It is an easy read, written in plain language and explains technical terms as they arise, perfect for a beginner. It has a natural progression from easy layouts to the more challenging and gives good advice on how you should progress as you gain experience. Highly recommended for beginners. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews Was this review helpful to you? | Comment Reply 8 of 8 people found the following review helpful Bachmann Trains E-Z Model Railroad Planning Book, March 15, 2013 By Tncoptrainer – This review is from: Bachmann Trains E-Z Model Railroads Track Planning Book (Toy) I have to say, that I read a couple of negative reviews but didn’t pay attention to them like I should have. This is nothing like I was expecting. The layouts that the book goes into detail for are ridiculous. I was looking for a book that gave me layout ideas and then allows you to perhaps expand on that idea. Further, I was hoping the book would have something different than ovals with a few switches. C’mon Man! This book falls short in meeting my expectation. I thought it would address a DC vs DCC layout and benefits of each. I don’t really care about the history of logging engines. What does that have to do with building a layout? I would not spend the $15-19 that this book is being sold for. It will be in my garage sale this weekend or eBay. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews Was this review helpful to you? | Comment Reply 8 of 9 people found the following review helpful Not enough E-Z, March 2, 2011 By dr exeter – This review is from: Bachmann Trains E-Z Model Railroads Track Planning Book (Toy) In looking for e-z track plans, this book seems to be one of the better ones around. However, in terms of the scope, variety and number of e-z track plans offered, it fell short considerably. More importantly, the book did not indicate layout size of the track plans in Appendex A, whereas it did so in Appendix B. This lack of information severly curtails the value of the Appendix A track plans offered for those railroads. In general, the book fell short and was a clear disappointment considering the title is ‘E-Z Model Railroads’. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews Was this review helpful to you? | Comment Reply Leave a comment Cancel replyYour email address will not be published.
