If you don’t mind you and your house sparkling until all the glitter sheets have been used up and the doll’s hair washed, then your little girl will love this Glitter Hair Design Barbie doll. This particular Barbie doll has a hard body and appendages; even her head seems a bit thicker than most. Her hair, however, is soft and long, but her simple dress is pretty short, but since it’s loose it doesn’t ride up like some other outfits do. There is a tool that holds the hair in place and provides a flat surface for applying the designs and glitter, though you can apply both without it, which is good since in less than a day it was already lost in a pile of toys somewhere…I hope, along with the comb, shoes, and necklace. At first I thought the barrettes were missing, also, but these tiny clips (about half an inch) are attached near the rubber bands (I use smaller ones in my girls’ hair, but these seem more durable) and were not noticed at first. You’ll want to fold the perforations prior to peeling, but it could still be difficult. Make your life simple and get the scissors for the glitter – the bags are difficult to open without them. I just rubbed the designs on the hair then ran the glitter down the hair. The glitter is pretty, but I don’t think the designs are terribly visible, though it could depend on which styles you use and might be better when the application tool is used. As for starting over with new designs, may I suggest your daughters take Barbie in the tub with them for a thorough cleaning – shampoo, rinse, comb, repeat. This is one of those toys that’s far more fun for kids than it is for the grownups who typically get to clean it up. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews Was this review helpful to you? | Comment Reply 1 of 1 people found the following review helpful Get Ready for a Mess, June 25, 2015 By Amazon Customer (Oregon) – This review is from: Barbie Glitter Hair Design Doll (Toy) Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What’s this?) This is a fun, but messy Barbie play set. I had my 4 year old daughter pick out the style she wanted applied first and I did it for her. I still got glitter all over the place..lol. I pressed the adhesive on well and then pressed the glitter on firmly. It worked, although not as well as the picture shows, of course. My 10 year old daughter made a pretty design as well. Our tips for getting it to work are: have the hair nice and straight and flat in the large clip, press firmly, and pull slowly from the top down to remove the adhesive/glitter strips. It is delicate once applied. If my 4 year old daughter breaks up the hair strands with a comb or her finger, the design won’t show up anymore. I don’t think this is a set I’d buy, personally, because of the mess factor and because the results are easily messed up, but for what it’s worth, we were able to get nice results with the set by taking our time. This isn’t likely to be something that a 5 or 6 year old can successfully do themselves. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews Was this review helpful to you? | Comment Reply Wished it looked like the box., July 1, 2015 By Danielle (Illinois) – This review is from: Barbie Glitter Hair Design Doll (Toy) Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What’s this?) I had fond memories of the Glitter hair Barbie of the 1990’s. She had really long hair where you could comb through Barbie’s hair with glitter gel and glittery streaks behind. I was expecting this kit to be similar but alas, it was not. There are plenty of warnings on the box about what you should not do. First of all, they want you to know that the glitter and adhesive sheets are to be used on Barbie only, not on children. Also know that the glitter may stain fabrics and should not come into contact with clothing, carpet, walls, or furniture. That alone makes it a little harder to have play time with this Barbie. The glittering process is relatively easy. But the design that comes off is nothing like what is pictured on the box (but then again, how often do things in real life look like what it does on a box or tv commercial?). The glitter comes of as you move Barbie around, so the design doesn’t stick around for very long. It’s also messy so neat freaks should stay away from this Barbie. However, Barbie does come in a very pretty pink top with a blue sparkly skirt. She has black platform heels and a silver necklace. Her hair is long and silky and should be great for different hairdos. This sounded like a great idea in theory but just doesn’t quite work like it should 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews Was this review helpful to you? | Comment Reply Leave a comment Cancel replyYour email address will not be published.
