   I’ve been fishing almost every summer since i was 3 and have been taking fish off my own lines for at least 10 years, but last year I put a hook through the fleshy area between my thumb and pointer finger and I knew i wouldn’t have the guts to get fish off my line unless i got some kind of protection. I saw these gloves and thought they might do the trick. They aren’t puncture proof since the back is a thin material but they help you grip the fish much easier which helps prevent a pesky bass from wriggling free of your hand and putting part of a treble hook through it. The rubber material on palm and bottom of fingers would be harder for a hook to go through so they do offer that much puncture protection. They also protect your fingers from being scraped up by fish teeth and would probably protect from bluegill spines. Only thing I have against it is it was add on item so had to buy something else to get them.

   I wanted a pair of gloves to take fish with spiny fins off the hook. These gloves are great. I am not squeamish about taking fish off the hook, but have been stuck with their fins several times. The rubberized palm and under the fingers works great for holding onto the fish without squeezing them so you can return them back to the water. I don’t go fishing without them anymore. Has really made fishing much more enjoyable knowing that I can safely take them off the hook and return them to their habitat unharmed.

   These are pretty nice gloves. Haven’t actually caught any fish yet to tell you how they work, however, they fit well. I have shorter fingers and they are a little long, but otherwise good.
