I bought this target primarily to shoot with my 45 lb recurve bow, it barely stops the arrows. Tried it with my compound, shooting at the side of the target it will stop the arrows but if I shoot at the target face my arrows blow straight through. Extremely poor product, not suitable for use with most modern bows. The problem is there is no compression to hold the layers together. I ratchet strapped the outside of the target to compress the layers more and performance improved but even after the modification the target is not very good at stopping arrows from my compound.

I’m not an archery expert by any means but it occurs to me that there are at least 3 factors that determine how deeply an arrow will penetrate a target: The force that the arrow is shot with measured in fps or loosely approximated by the bow’s draw weight, the sharpness of the arrow’s tip and the stopping ability of the target. I shoot a compound bow and have tried 30-45lb draw weights so far with this target. My arrows are pretty basic carbon shafts with sharp field points. I’ve found that at 20yds and 30lbs my arrows go most of the way into the target but do not stick out the back. At 30yds and 42lbs the arrows went through the target and stuck 4-6 inches out the back but did not pass all the way through it. To shoot at 50lbs and 30yds I would definitely need an upgraded target. So this one seems better suited for my kids although its small-ish size makes it difficult for them to hit consistently with their recurves at more than 10yds. Another reviewer complained that it moves around when hit but I found that with a reasonable backdrop it stayed oriented plenty well enough for six shots at a time.
On the plus side, with its layered construction I expect it to take thousands of hits with little damage. It’s light-weight and easy to carry and small enough to store easily. Another reviewer said they added straps around it to compress the layers more. I haven’t tried that but it seems like a good idea.

Works great when I read some of the reviews I saw some had problems with it stopping arrows. I just came in from shooting about 30 arrows in to mine and didn’t have a problem with it not stopping them at all. I am using a high country power force bow with 60lb draw weight. I shot field points and broad heads in to the broad head face each arrow stopped in the target and arrows were easy to remove. I even shot Toxic broad heads in it and it is still holding up great. All in all great target for the price. Also just for a quick note it doesn’t have yellow marking on the face of the target they are white and you can still see it good through a peep sight from 20 yards away.

Good for lighter weight bows or longer distances.,
