These are good beginner shoes. They are true to size. Bowling shoes, in general, tend to run a little large. I normally wear a size 7.5, but have always worn a size 7 when bowling. If this is your first time buying your own bowling shoes, order the size you usually rent.
The slide is nice, not too slippery, but much better than the standard rental shoe. Be careful not to get the bottoms wet, at all. The slightest amount of moisture will cause them to stick and make it more likely for you to fall when trying to slide.
Comfortable and good looking. They hold up well, though the toes crease easily. Great value.

I bowl occasionally with my son, so I can’t even call myself a bowler. I just got tired of paying $5 for shoe rentals, and wanted something really cheap. I normally wear women’s size 11 (hey, I’m 5’10”, so that’s normal!), and ordered an 11 even though I knew it would probably be too big (the size 10 was $15 more). I was right. So, just to clarify for others who actually care that the shoe fits: Order one size down. However, I also have really narrow feet (yes, long and narrow — stop laughing!) and they aren’t unreasonably wide, like some have said. Overall, seems to be a well-made shoe. Just lost one star because of the sizing.
