This review is from: Bundle of 4 Professional Dice Cups (Toy) First, some backstory: I picked up a bunch of these at a garage sale and liked them so much I wanted more. Found the right picture on Amazon, ordered from E-Brands, and waited for what I ordered to arrive. Except it didn’t. What showed up were Brybelly Professional Cups, of which I have many issues. Suffice to say that they cheap pretenders of the cups shown here. Given the other reviews pointing out this problem, there must be some ongoing confusion between and words “Deluxe” and “Professional” or indeed the words “Awesome” and “Bunk,” because it is clear that I’m not the first to be duped. But as surely as an icosahedrons roll twenties, I aim to be the last! If you’re considering buying these – or any dice cup on Amazon – do yourself a favor and contact the seller first to confirm that they’re shipping what you’re seeing. I did this with The Game Factory and received excellent service and the product I actually wanted. This made me happy. tl;dr: when ordering this product, remember: E-Brands bad, The Game Factory good. Now, onto reviewing the cup itself: This Deluxe Dice cup is the same design as Koplow and KegWorks, and is as good a cup as you’re going to get for under $10, and a delight to the senses. In order: 1. Sight: The faux-leather, also known as “vinyl” is sturdy and leathery enough to fool half-soused bar patrons and/or house guests. The red felt interior is securely stitched inside of the brim lining. It looks solid – no edges, flaps or overlap to be seen. The exterior stitching makes it look like quality piece of work. 2. Smell: They lack that “leather” smell, but possess no displeasing odor – unlike the BryBelly Professional Cups, which about put me on the floor when I opened the package. 3. Sound: the included 14mm bone-colored dice rattle the walls with pleasing muted tones of true randomization. Slamming the cup upon a wood table – Liar’s Dice style – results in a satisfying leathery percussion that presages the enclosed impact of the six-sided bones. It’s enough to know you’re playing, but not enough to interrupt even polite conversation. 4. Feel: the bottom of the cup is reinforced with a wide dish of extra synthetic cowhide. Feels great in the palm, and gives each finger someplace to firmly grip the cup. Very easy to upturn and slam down, then tip up to read the roll. A sober person cannot botch this. Should a guest fumble one, take their car keys. The ribbed felt helps the dice tumble if you’re into pouring the dice out of the cup, but really, these are made to be slammed onto a tabletop. 5. Taste: needs salt. To summarize, if you’re looking for the right cup to start playing Liar’s Dice, this is the sweet spot between the lousy $5 cheapo cups and the top-flight $40 leathers. For price-to-value, you can’t do better. Just get it from The Game Factory and you’ll be fine. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews Was this review helpful to you? | Comment Reply 9 of 10 people found the following review helpful You aren’t buying what you are seeing, March 22, 2013 By Gandalf the Grey (Arizona) – Verified Purchase(What’s this?) This review is from: Bundle of 4 Professional Dice Cups (Toy) Very disappointed with the quality of the product for what was advertised. The game of liars dice is very fun, but I wanted nice set of dice/cups.I had played with a neighbors set, and knew there where different qualities. My complaint is with the photos…They showed individually packaged cups with a nice solid bottom rim at the bottom. My cups were smaller and had no rim.No dice came with them either.Mine are going back and I will re-shop. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews Was this review helpful to you? | Comment Reply 4 of 4 people found the following review helpful Annoyed in MN, January 23, 2012 By Elmer – Verified Purchase(What’s this?) This review is from: Bundle of 4 Professional Dice Cups (Toy) The leather cups appear to be just fine but the red lining constantly keeps coming loose and also completely falls out. We tried shaking dice without the lining, and it works out, but it is pretty loud. We will most likely have to find some very durable glue, and completely reglue the red velour back in. I also recommend buying additional white dice, as the yellow ones that come with this set, are very difficult to read. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews Was this review helpful to you? | Comment Reply Leave a comment Cancel replyYour email address will not be published.
