This review is from: Chinese Calligraphy Black Ink (yi de ge mo zhi) 100G (Kitchen)
This is the ink that I used in China 11 years ago, as I was learning Chinese painting. It is the authentic ink (even smells like it). I absolutely love this ink, from its consistency to it color. However, people who are sensitive to smells may not want to buy this, because it does have a pretty strong odor once the bottle is uncapped.

Originally for my Chinese calligraphy class, I had purchased a cheap calligraphy ink from a local Michael’s. It was for Western style calligraphy and had not been nice, it was very thin and when dried was not black in color.
THIS ink from the one I bought from Amazon was very thick and rich, so to speak. It coated my calligraphy brush very well and helped it hold the nice pointed shape. It did not dry quickly so whenever I paused, I didn’t have to worry about the brush drying out. The ink also looked very appealing on paper, very dark and solid.

Reputable student grade ink – highly regarded and widely used by native Chinese students,
My Chinese friend swears by it. Affordable, tested, true and does the job.
Being student grade it is not permanent ink and thus not water fast.
The positive is its economical price and in practice, dried ink can be rehydrated for reuse.
