I’ve been crocheting for 3 years. I’ve tried from the inexpensive hooks, Boye, Susan Bates, to the middle range Crochet Guy, to the more expensive Addi, passing through bamboo, rosewood, and other sophisticated wooden hooks. Nothing compares to the easiness of crocheting with Clover Amour hooks. For about a year I been using exclusively the Amour aluminum hooks in the only available sizes they had, No. 2.25 to No. 6 being the largest. When I saw they now had sizes 6.5 to 10 for thicker yarns I wanted to try one first before purchasing a set. I made the decision to buy the elusive, in the US market, No. 7. I was not sure what to expect because the hook was made of plastic instead of its aluminum smaller counterparts, but I was not disappointed, in fact, a week later I ordered sizes 6.5, 8, 9 and 10. To me, the Amour hooks are the most comfortable, smooth, perfect shaped hooks in the market. I only crochet with yarn so I have not tried the smaller steel Amour hooks.

Wish they were less expensive, but I love this hook as much as I love all my Clover Amour hooks! Slides nicely through the yarn without catching, same great hybrid head that combines the best features of both the inline and the offset hooks, and great comfortable grip and nice and lightweight. I’m gradually replacing all my hooks with the Clover Amour ones, they’ve done wonders relaxing my grip and improving my tension and preventing wrist and hand fatigue and pain.

I love my Amour hooks. I’ve now got the entire regular set of ten hooks (B through J including the 7) and all of the available sizes of the “fat” hooks, pictured here (7.0, K, L, M/N and N/P). As I have joint and muscle issues in my hands, I cannot stress how much these hooks help me. I can crochet for hours, faster and more efficiently than with any other hooks I’ve tried (and I’ve tried quite a few).
When I first saw the larger sizes for bulky yarns, and that the hooks are (gasp!) plastic, I was hesitant. However, I sent for the largest size to try on a bulky lap throw project, and … wow. The plastic is not just “plastic”; it’s a high-impact, hard, slick, almost space-aged material that just slides through the yarn. It is every bit as smooth and high-quality as the aluminum-tipped hooks I am used to. The handles, too, are the warm, easy-to grip quality that I love from Amour. I was so impressed that I have since ordered the rest of the available sizes to round out the set.
Don’t let the “plastic” in other reviews deter you from trying these hooks. You will find that they really are your trusted Clover Amours in every way. You won’t be disappointed.
