The lens/light bulb fall out with the slightest impact. Not at all appropriate for kids who tend to be rough on things. Plus it takes 4 AA which makes it darn heavy! You are better off buying an adult version.

My 12, 8, 4 aged grandkids are always taking their father’s headlamp and playing with it. They had a ball with these headlamps made just for kids. They are lighter and have a cuter look. They ran around the house with the lights off squealing, giggling and having a great time. I have not seen one break yet (been about 9 months). They also pack them up for their camping trips. The 8 year old is timid in the dark and uses it sometimes to comfort herself at night when she is going to sleep. Her mother returns later to turn it off when she gives her a final kiss goodnight.

I purchased 3 for my granddaughters ages 4, 9 and 11…big hit Christmas morning!! Kid friendly. Lightweight. Plenty of light from the lamp. The older two wore them throughout the day on and off. The price was right. Some of the others were costly and I felt too heavy for their heads. All in all very satisfied with product.
