This review is from: Daiwa Beefstick Surf Spin Rod, 2 Piece (Sports) Before purchasing this, I went to Cabela’s and looked at the Cabela’s Salt Striker rods as well as others (Tica, Penn, etc.). I wanted a saltwater rig that I could abuse and I only needed something for a few trips to the Texas gulf per year (I mainly fish freshwater and put my money into those rods). I was very skeptical about buying a surf rod for $30, but I am shocked by my initial inspection of this rod (should this change, I will update this review). The rod lies true and straight and the two pieces interlock easily (surprisingly, this can be an issue with cheap multi-piece rods). The materials appear to be free of defects and the two pieces look like solid, tough glass blanks. The grips on this rod are solid, and it has a nice rounded end that could be comfortable to lever against your inner thigh if you don’t have a fighting belt. I plan to pair this 10′ Beefstick with a Daiwa Emcast Sport 6000 reel (I plan to run braided line – I will edit this review with my opinion of that setup). I intend to use this for catching bait in the surf (mainly whiting) and will bring it when I fish the lakes in Central Texas, in case I want to rig something up for channel cats. PROS: Feels like a $100 rod.Strength (time and salt water will tell)Craftsmanship for the priceAssembles easily and straightGuides appear to be well crafted CONS: None yet (will update if needed). 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews Was this review helpful to you? | Comment Reply 11 of 11 people found the following review helpful Best rod out there-Beefstick., November 27, 2013 By Tommy Ngo (California, USA) – Verified Purchase(What’s this?) This review is from: Daiwa Beefstick Surf Spin Rod, 2 Piece (Sports) I bought one 10′, and I love it. I was hesitant at first due to it being 2 pieces, but went ahead and gave it a try and I just love it strong and sturdy.. feel like one piece. 10′ is best for reach and used at sea or lake perfect. I went out right after got this and sinker stuck at the bottom rock.. and after 15-20 mins in I was able to free it .. wow. what a beefstick. I was so blown away by it performance I bought another one right after I got home, but Amazon is out of stock, but I’ll wait because it worth it. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews Was this review helpful to you? | Comment (1) Reply 14 of 16 people found the following review helpful 10ft BeefStick is pretty beefy without raising your blood pressure!, August 15, 2013 By Al – Verified Purchase(What’s this?) This review is from: Daiwa Beefstick Surf Spin Rod, 2 Piece (Sports) Got this after my R2F rod went from ready to fish to ready to FAIL in only 2 casts!!!! It snapped like a toothpick so avoid that brand at all cost! Great looking rod with some weight to it and feels really sturdy not too heavy. Went with the 10ft since at this length and above they all go up to 40lb and 1-6 oz lure weight and this can still cast a good 85-95 yards out with a good cast without the pain of carrying a giant fish flagpole that can touch the moon. First 3-4ft of the rod has good sensitivity, after that it gets really sturdy and solid all the way down to the grips and so on and it isn’t a pain in the rear to take apart and put together. Very cheap for what its really worth, I call it the budget shark hunter since it can handle small sharks with good strong line(search you**be, there are a few vids) and you can use it on the surf and take the rod on the boat with ease. Its a hybrid just don’t bring this guy to a pond, thats just overkill and you would want something smaller anyways. The best part is the name!!! Who names a fishing rod BeefStick? The jokes never end when you bring this bad boy out fishing with your friends. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews Was this review helpful to you? | Comment Reply Leave a comment Cancel replyYour email address will not be published.
