Tritle and this is one of my favorites. Probably the easiest of the group I have built (also the Pietenpol and C-3) but be forewarned this is a KIT in the truest sense! Upon opening the box, you will be blessed with lightweight balsa wood stock, laser cut balsa parts, a tiny bit of music wire, some tissue paper, and a “Poster” with your airplane on it!This is no ARF (almost Ready to Fly) and certainly not an RTF (Ready To Fly), as such you will spend some hours on the build. You will also be tasked with the selection and sourcing of the Motor, Battery, and R/C “Flight Pack” as well as a selection of modeling tools. Then your task will be to assemble all the parts into a single flying machine. With this in mind I cannot recommend it to a rank beginner, unless you have help from an experienced builder.A Flying Machine it is! She is no skyrocket but putters nicely on the wing around a large yard or football pitch in such a lovely fashion not seen by modern “Foamies”. Flights of up to 20 minutes (and over) are easy with good power management using an 800MaH 2 cell LiPo battery and recommended GWS IPS “A” motor and gearbox. Mr. Tritle designs his models with such lightness and elegance that is impossible to match with most designs seen today. While these models are very airworthy and sturdy in the flight regime (And not so elegant landings) they are certainly not tolerant of rough ground handling or poor build quality. That being said, if you do beak her in, you have the skill and knowledge to repair her! Hits:Flys like an angelSimple kit constructionEasy to source (common) R/C hardware Misses:It is a REAL kit and may deter novice builders/pilots (This may a be a plus for some)Tissue covering not tolerant to rough handling (Can use modern lightweight iron on covering) 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews Was this review helpful to you? | Comment (1) Reply 11 of 12 people found the following review helpful Another nice Dumas kit, November 23, 2013 By Laura C. Perkinson – This review is from: Dumas Taylorcraft Electric Airplane Kit RC Airplane (Toy) Dumas makes a very nice product and has done so for many many years. Materials have to be light so the thing will fly. It is plenty sturdy for the job it is intended to do, fly. If you don’t know how many models are made you won’t know how little material is needed to do the job. IT IS A RC MODEL IF YOU WANT IT TO BE! depends on how you build it. If you expect everything necessary for RC flight to be included then you don’t know anything about the hobby. Not 1 in a 100 RC model planes are RTF (ready to fly) and come equipped with everything necessary. There are RC planes out there that cost less than $20 to costing thousands and still don’t have engines, radios, servos, batteries, covering or hardware. If you don’t know what you are buying then don’t buy it. Find out what is involved in building and setting up a model before you get one and find out. Once you do then join AMA (Academy of Model Aeronautics) where you will find a wealth of knowledge as well as your local club and get the help necessary to successfully fly. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews Was this review helpful to you? | Comment Reply 46 of 63 people found the following review helpful The best, August 31, 2011 By jordan – = Durability: = Fun: = Educational: This review is from: Dumas Taylorcraft Electric Airplane Kit RC Airplane (Toy) This is the best.
