Heavy for beginner, December 1, 2012 By Oleg Gaponov “Drap was here…” (Seattle, WA) – Verified Purchase(What’s this?) This review is from: Fascinations Metal Earth 3D Laser Cut Model – White House (Toy) Previously, I wrote about Metal Works Burj Khalifa and said that was the hardest model so far. Well, I think this one was the hardest, because of the flag and small parts on the roof. But, as always, I liked the design and quality of material. I just would not recommend it for beginner. This is fifth model I bought from Metal Works so far! The first one was Metal Works London Tower Bridge 3D Laser Cut Model Marvel, the second is Metal Marvels – Empire State Building and the third one Metal Works Neuschwanstein Castle 3D Laser Cut Model Marvel. The forth, like I said, was Metal Works Burj Khalifa I would recommend next set of tools to make the process of assembling much smoother:– Needle nose pliers TEKTON 3511 8-Inch Long Nose Pliers– Small flat screwdriver (1/4″ Bit) Flat Head Screwdriver – 1/4″ Bit – 6″ Shaft– Tweezers General Tools 415 Utility Tweezers– Some hard (metal) flat surface to make 90⁰ bends I have attached some pictures, so you can see how process of assembling looks like.Model does not require any additional hardware or glue to finish. It is made with high quality materials and looks awesome. I really like how it designed and manufactured. For example, when I was assembling London Bridge I misread the instruction and had to disassemble half of it and then put them back together. I didn’t brake anything while moving parts front and back – which is a really good sign of quality.I would recommend following every part of the instructions which included with every item. Instructions are very clear and easy to read, and sometimes if you miss-follow them you might need to redo some steps again. In conclusion, I would like to summarize everything I said before: great quality, design, instructions. No additional hardware required, but you might want to use some tools. A little experience required. It is durable enough, so my cat couldn’t destroy it 🙂 It is very interesting and nice model. Definitely not a toy, but a great present for 13+ kids who interested in modeling. I will buy more models from this company for sure. I purchased this from a local hobby shop and while I found it to be challenging, I believe the challenge comes due to the low quality construction. Removing each piece from the metal sheet is a challenge in itself. Some pieces were bending when I removed them, so much that they I was unable to reasonably get them back into their original shape. Then putting the pieces together and having them fit proved to be simply frustrating. Even with thin pliers I was unable to properly join most of the pieces. I would have happily paid a few more dollars for something more sturdy and slightly easier to assemble. I will not be purchasing from this manufacturer again. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews Was this review helpful to you? | Comment Reply 2 of 2 people found the following review helpful “Charlie don’t surf!”, July 1, 2014 By Gerard Dreiss “Gojulas” (Boston, MA) – Verified Purchase(What’s this?) This review is from: Metal Earth 3D Metal Model – Huey UH-1 Helicopter (Toy) Here’s what you need to put this together: pliers and patience. Yes, it’s all insert tab and bend (or twist), and sometimes curve. The metal is very thin and warps easily, plus can break. The instructions are not very good at all. It had me join the tail section together and THEN insert the rudders and tail rotor, which involved disassembling the tail so I could bend the tabs. Don’t get me wrong, for the person with the right kind of temperament is a lot of fun to put together. They provide a web link to a 360 image. Have that open as you assemble. Very small pliers are a must. I used Beadsmith Jeweler’s Micro Pliers. Plus tweezers and something round like a pen or marker to help with the curves. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews Was this review helpful to you? | Comment Reply Leave a comment Cancel replyYour email address will not be published.
