This review is from: Knitters Travel Case Holds up to 15 Knitting Needles Zippered Case, Colors May Vary (Office Product)
The case holds my 14 inch needles, which is great, and it’s sturdy, zips closed, all that was in the description. However, when the description says “15 knitting needles”, it means 15 needles. Not 15 pairs, which is what I was hoping for and rather expecting. I managed to squeeze in more because of the pocket sewn into the case, but it took some work to manage to fit all of my needles in there. It’s great for small numbers of needles (and small needles, I had trouble fitting my 17’s in there), but for dedicated knitters with every needle size under the sun, you probably want a larger case. Or you could order more than one.

My goal was not to travel with all my knitting needles, but to find a reasonably priced case to store my collection of bamboo needles since they all look similar you can’t simply keep them in a bin and pick them out by color. With bamboo you have to look carefully at the faint numbers on the sides to make sure you’re knitting with two of the same size. For that, this case is okay – but there are so many things about it that are just aggravating. Overall it is not a nice experience using this case.
For some bizarre reason the case has 15 slots, whereas knitting needles come in pairs. A case with 14 or 16 slots would have made more sense. The larger size needles 15, 13, 11, 10.5 use one slot per needle; the slots can accommodate pairs of smaller sizes, 9, 8, 7, 6, etc. So, you can squeeze in more than 15 needles if you work at it.
The size of the case is also problematic. I accept responsibility for not reading the dimensions more carefully, but you may want to keep this in mind. The case is 15 inches long. If you’re using 14-inch long needles it’s fine. I tend to use 9-inch straight needles; wider projects are worked on circular needles. Therefore the case has a good six inches of wasted space at the top. Unzipped the case is 12 inches wide (6 inches wide when closed). Behind the slots for the individual needles there is a 6-inch pocket on either side of the spine. If you store anything other than a perfectly flat ruler in the pocket, it becomes a challenge to zip the case closed. Don’t think you’re going to be able to put circular needles, and/or scissors, tape measures, tooth-fairy sized boxes of markers, etc. in those pockets without damaging your knitting needles. Had the pockets been at the top of the case, it would have been less frustrating to have a 15-inch long case to store 9-inch needles.
The case isn’t particularly well constructed. It doesn’t have padding and doesn’t feel like it will protect my needles. If you’re using aluminum needles it’s not a huge factor; those are mostly indestructible. However, bamboo or plastic needles can break or warp. I feel like my bamboo needles are in danger because of the way they are pressed up against the needles on the other side of the closed case. In addition to the lack of padding, the zipper is flimsy and doesn’t feel like it’s going to hold up to frequent use.
Finally, although many attractive colors are pictured, you cannot select your preference. Cases are randomly chosen for you. Many of these reviews complain that the recipient disliked the color they received. I knew that going in, but thought I would be happy enough with any of the colors in the picture (blue, purple, pink, green, taupe), however my case is an icky shade of beige. So be aware that you might get a color that you dislike.
A lot of this is my own fault – I didn’t read the dimensions carefully; and I made too many assumptions. I assumed the case would be sturdy enough to protect my needles since it is advertised for travel and all I wanted was to organize needles that will never leave my workroom. I thought a zippered case would have a pretty solid zipper. I figured I could live with any of the colors shown, but there was at least one other color not shown.
In short, I find this case to be typical made-in-China junk. I will now invest a few extra dollars and go to my local yarn or craft shop and get a better and more practical case. After all, I have a lot of money invested in the knitting needles and want them to last a long time.

Perfect for my bamboo needles. The stiff case guards against bending and breaking them much better than a fabric case. The quality of the construction looks pretty good and I expect to get years of service from it. Definitely worth what I paid for it. Very pleased.

Travelling knitters only take 15 needles with them,
It’s great for small numbers of needles (and small needles, I had trouble fitting my 17’s in there), but for dedicated knitters with every needle size under the sun, you probably want a larger case. Or you could order more than one.
