This book gives very clear directions for using a long loom. It has made it possible for me to help some people with disabilities to learn to use the long loom. I think that the long loom is easier for some people to use than the circular loom, once the threading process has been learned. The clear and detailed photographs are key to setting up the long loom, learning to use it. I am most grateful to the author and publisher for this book. Thank you.

The book is not everything I was hoping for. I have been loom knitting for a couple of years now and am always looking for new patterns and stitches to try out. I bought this book in hopes that I might learn a couple of new techniques. While I did like the pattern for the baby blanket and was happy to find out how to make an infinity scarf, I was not pleased with the incorrect stitches presented at the beginning. From what I’ve read and looked up what the author says is a stockinette is really the double [knit] stockinette. A regular stockinette is where you only go down the loom once to make a row using all pairs. And what she shows as the double stockinette is really just a variation of the original. Also, it doesn’t tell you to wrap the yarn criss-cross around the pegs, as this is the only way to make the stitch work. If you don’t do this the stitch comes out really loose and one end looks awful. And if this is the correct way to do, she doesn’t show you how to tighten up the end without the working yarn. Most of these patterns are just variations of scarfs, while I was hoping for more variety of things to make. I do, however, like that she shows you have to make something with different color sides, as I like her instructions for how to purl and do an invisible stitch to connect things together. Overall, I don’t think this book is total loss, but I don’t think it was worth the ten dollars I spent on it, as I only learned a couple of new things.
