This review is from: Lion Brand Yarn 135-125L Hometown USA Yarn, Billings Chocolate (Misc.) This yarn is almost impossibly soft. Ridiculously, wonderfully, amazingly soft. I wish I could convey adequately how insanely soft this stuff is, but unless you feel it for yourself, words won’t do it justice. I got 3 skeins of it (in Billings Chocolate) to make a scarf and I’d like to get more in a variety of other colors. I’m knitting on size 14 needles, and this stuff knits up really quickly. Also, its bulkiness seems to be forgiving when it comes to sloppy stitching (I knit on the train and the motion can sometimes mess with my ability to keep consistent tension). The resulting knit is fantastically soft (have I mentioned how soft this yarn is?), thick and cozy, and remarkably stretchy.. So, if this yarn is so fantastic, why not 5 stars? Well, I notice that the strand seems to come apart pretty easily. I’ve stuck the needle into the strand more than once, and met no resistance. Also, I notice that as I’m working through my first skein, about a quarter of the way through, the strand is somewhat unraveled already. I’m hoping that it’ll stay together once it’s knit into the scarf, but it’s kind of discouraging to encounter this so early on. All in all, this yarn is nice – works up fast, makes a really nice feeling product, and it’s soft (seriously). As long as it holds up, I think I’ll be buying more of this yarn! ***Update*** I’ve amended my review from 4 stars to 5. After going through 3 skeins of this yarn, I’ve absolutely fallen in love with it. Yes, it does kind of come apart a little bit while knitting, but the finished product seems like it’s going to be durable. Also, it just feels so nice – anything you make with this yarn is going to be soft, thick, and cozy. It really is a fantastic yarn. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews Was this review helpful to you? | Comment Reply 98 of 110 people found the following review helpful When its acrylic, the yarn snobs come out of the wood work, May 7, 2013 By bookreader (usa) – This review is from: Lion Brand Yarn 135-153I Hometown USA Yarn, Oakland Black (Misc.) Yes, yarn snobs, it’s acrylic. But it is a fine yarn, I have found that it holds up very well over time, washes wonderfully, and everytime I wash it, it gets softer. Not all, but some yarn’ers will just automatically poo-poo a yarn simply because it’s not an overly (beyond what it’s worth) expensive high-end yarn from some trendy LYS. and *GASP!* I’ve even knitted with it! so now, the knit-police can come and get me. Sorry to seem negative guys, but I’ve had a nose or two turned up at me at fancy yarn shops when they found out I also crochet. for those of you who don’t have these yarn issues, this yarn is a good one. Worth the price, holds up well over time. for you yarn snobs, why bother with a review when you know you have issues right up front because it’s not “natural fibers” or spun by little ladies in some obscure island with bare hands, while standing on one leg. Personally, the only natural fiber I’ll use is cotton. I don’t care how fancy or rare the sheep are, wool is itchy! 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews Was this review helpful to you? | Comments (5) Reply 28 of 31 people found the following review helpful YOU CAN FIND IT MUCH CHEAPER ELSE WHERE!!, November 10, 2011 By Shadowatch – If you need this yarn, please buy at Walmart -it is $2.99!!It is an excellent yarn to work with! 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews Was this review helpful to you? | Comments (2) Reply Leave a comment Cancel replyYour email address will not be published.
