I bought this for myself so that I could learn crocheting. The instructions are awesome and if I could follow them, I’m sure I would have come out with a straight scarf. There’s plenty of yarn to create a 3 1/2 ft long (by anywhere from 4 to 5 inches wide) scarf. I am not someone who follows instructions well (I’m in my late 30’s), which is why I need something you would purchase for a 10 year old. I’m not embarrassed by it, it’s just the way it is. With that said, I had a blast. It was slow going, took me about 2 weeks and I worked on it over the weekends and at night when I had time.I’m purchasing another kit so that I can make a straight scarf; I actually figured out how to crochet (yay for me!) by the time I was done with this one. Baby steps for me. 🙂 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews Was this review helpful to you? | Comment Reply 23 of 25 people found the following review helpful Beginner’s Crochet Kit, November 29, 2012 By Bob and Carri – Verified Purchase(What’s this?) This review is from: Lion Brand Yarn Beginner Crochet Scarf Kit, Dusty Rose (Misc.) I bought this for my 9 year old granddaughter who is begging me to teach her how to crochet. So far from what I’ve seen of it’s contents, it’s a nice little kit with yarn just thick enough for little fingers without being too thick; a readable pattern, and the end product is something she can use. She’s a quiet little girl who loves to create and this looks to be perfect for her. Many other kits were a bit complicated in the instructions, came with cheap (scrap-like) yarn that frayed, and over-priced. This one is a nice one. I started crocheting myself with a kit similar to this and I’m still crocheting to this day (almost 40 years ago)! 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews Was this review helpful to you? | Comment Reply 10 of 10 people found the following review helpful Great little kit for practice and review, August 21, 2013 By S. Warfield (Maryland) – Verified Purchase(What’s this?) This review is from: Lion Brand Yarn Beginner Crochet Scarf Kit, Dusty Rose (Misc.) Knitting and crocheting are something that I used to do all the time and I was confident that I could crochet any pattern at all. Then I got busy raising three children, dogs, cats and the usual family fare and stopped crocheting and knitting and took up counted cross stitch. Recently I decided to return to the yarn crafts that I first did as a hobby. This kit is great for brushing up on rusty crochet skills and after about 15 minutes I was back in the groove of flying along with my crocheting. One suggestion that I’ll make is to purchase another crochet hook because the one in the kit is rather rough on the end and catches on the yarn and doesn’t pull through as easily as it should. The pink yarn is soft and is a very pretty color. There is enough to crochet a scarf especially if you tighten up the stitches a little bit. Mine are a bit loose so I need to tighten them in order to have a long enough scarf to be usable. It’s fun, creative and gave me back my confidence for the craft. Highly recommended for anyone wanting to brush up on crocheting skills or who wants to learn. The instructions are very clear and are illustrated. This would also be good for an older child who wants to learn. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews Was this review helpful to you? | Comment Reply Leave a comment Cancel replyYour email address will not be published.
