The five inch section is helpful for several track configurations such as a figure 8 or if you just want to extend your track a bit. Note that you can also buy straight track sizes of 1 3/8, 1 3/4, 4 1/2, 5, 10, and 30 inches. You can combine the smaller sizes to fill almost any size gap. The main challenge with Fastrack is that it is expensive. Only buy the smaller sizes to fill a specific gap. The small track sections cost almost as much as the 10 inch sections.

They work great like any other track pieces. These are some of the pieces you need if you want to change the basic oval that comes with most lionel train sets to a figure 8. You need these along with the 90 degree crossover and some additional curve tacks. Makes for a nice figure 8 which can be a bit more interesting than an oval.

FasTrack Half Straight, all the ease of FasTrack half the length. Hmmm what to say, well its FasTrack, nice and easy to use, holds together with ease, easier to maintain then traditional tubular track. Comes in a variety of prefab sizes, for your convenience.
