This is a very beautiful set. The weight of the marble is incomparable. I wanted some texture, lots of character in the coloring, and classic shapes–and this set met my expectations. A few of the pieces didn’t sit flat, and Unbeatablesale immediately sent replacements, which arrived within days and match the other pieces.

I couldn’t get a clear answer whether they are using real white marble in the white squares or not. The item I received was reported by ups to be 16.9 lbs but the item when purchased was advertised/described as being 21 lbs and if you look on the box the white marble is clearly distinguishable, opaque white squares with black streaks, but on the set itself the white squares have No black streaks and feature a sort of sparkle to them that is unlike marble, as if it is another material (that weighs less and is cheaper but they may not be reducing the advertised cost while still getting their material savings and have since reduced the cost since purchase).
I Figure quartz, but a friend of mine said polished granite, so either way all I know is the set is still nice, still fun to play on and my family loves the classic pieces and enjoy it but we experienced, not only a weight discrepancy, but upon attempting to contact the manufacturer the incorrect contact details were on amazon and thus that whole situation had to be corrected by me, just so I could get the answer that they must have included the shipping weight into the advertised weight which I deduce is an impossible increase because it was only in a box that couldn’t add 4-5 more lbs to the weight.
So, in summary the set is still nice and wonderful to play on but we did experience some discrepancies and an ordeal that, if you do not truly want this set like we did (it matched everything we wanted, black and white, classic pieces, nice materials, etc), I’d suggest avoiding until everything is made completely clear.
