I love the LBK beer kit because you can make a cheap small batch of trial beer to see if you like it before going with a big batch. This kit was awesome! The Diablo IPA came out perfect. I couldn’t believe I made it. It was dark in color, not too hoppy. It was just right. I only did 2 weeks in this fermenter, 1 week in the bottle and it was delicious in the glass. It pored a nice head. The bottles that come with this kit are reusable, they hold exactly 2 pints of beer. So 1 bottle is enough for 2 people. The downside of that is once you crack the bottle open, you need to drink it all and you only get about 11 or 12 of these bottles. So it’s forces you to drink 2 pints of beer in one sitting. Personally, I’d rather have 12 ounce bottles and have 1 beer with dinner, then maybe another late in the evening. I’ve since collected reusable bottles and purchased a bottle capper and bottle caps for 12 ounce bottles but I will continue using the LBK for new batches to see if I like them. If I do, I plan on using Mr Beer’s Deluxe Kit 24LX for the big batches. 6 gallons
Pros: quick beer making super easy and done in 20 minutes comes with a beer video to walk you through step by step “again sooo easy” 25 Ounce Plastic bottles holds all your beer in less space in the fridge Plastic bottles which let you know when your beer has carbonated “bottles become hard as a rock”
Cons: 25 Ounce Plastic bottles is 2 pint glasses of beer (you are forced to drink 2 pints in one sitting which will make your bottles disappear very fast especially if you simply wanted to share with a friend or family. It’s only 11 or 12 bottles so imagine, 3 to 6 weeks of brewing and waiting and all your beer is gone so fast. Making Lager’s take a LONG LONG time to condition. Months before you can drink without the apple cider taste. I’ve done 2 batches now of lagers, the Pilsner and the Aztec Cerveza and both were very apple cidery in flavor. I’ve been told to wait another month for that to go away.. wow that stinks. I prefer ales anyway which are done in 3 weeks and seem much less temperamental.

I got this as a Christmas gift and the box had a great big hole in it. It came double boxed and the outside box was ok so I know that the shipped it with a big hole in it.
