This review is from: Nerf Rebelle Agent Bow Blaster with purple arrows (Toy) Put simply, the Nerf Rebelle Agent Bow is the first Nerf product in a long time that achieves my primary goals: it looks great, and hits just hard enough to make my little brother upset. You see, other blasters just don’t shoot hard enough. I’ve owned several dart-blasters and, when it comes down to it, my target (my little brother) will generally ignore even direct hits. Those little darts are just too minuscule while the springs are just too weak. When I fire a Nerf dart at my brother, what can I expect? I’ll tell you; I can expect him not to care in the slightest. Then I’ll ask myself, “What is the point of even shooting a Nerf dart at my brother in the first place if he just ignores the darts like Superman ignores bullets?” Then I’ll find myself filled with regret, questioning my place in the universe; do my actions have any purpose? The Nerf Agent Rebelle Bow, however, has a design that is nothing less than brilliant. Built into the bow are several safeties: (1) its arrows are short, limiting how far they can be drawn, (2) the arrows are tipped with a hollow rubber bulb, to soften the impact, (3) the bowstring itself has a moderate draw strength, again limiting how fast the arrows fly. With all of these measures built in, safety was clearly a heavy consideration when Hasbro designed this bow. That being said, this thing shoots an arrow harder than any dart blaster I’ve got. It’s not enough to bruise, or even really sting; but it will definitely hit hard enough to fill a person with shame. And fury. At least, that’s what I imagined my brother felt when I shot one of these rubber arrows smack dab in the center of his forehead. His reaction was not one of pain, but of rage – he promptly punched me in my eye. After so many years, I finally achieved the reaction I had hoped so long for. And even now, as I hold this bag of ice over my eye, my soul resonates – with purpose. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews Was this review helpful to you? | Comments (10) Reply 33 of 35 people found the following review helpful Become the Archer, August 22, 2014 By Amazon Customer (Glendale, ca) – This review is from: Nerf Rebelle Agent Bow Blaster with purple arrows (Toy) The Nerf Rebelle Agent Bow is a fantastic buy for any child into either Katniss or Hawkeye. For all the fans heartbroken last Christmas by the Heartbreaker Bow, the Agent Bow finally delivers on last year’s false promises. It is the absolute peak of toy bows in the storied history of toy bows. Nerf’s previous attempts at bows have suffered from the same limitations: the strings never actually functioned, so it never really FELT like a bow. With the Agent Bow, Nerf has finally captured the feel of firing a bow and arrow because the string actually does the shooting as opposed to serving a decorative function. The string is taught and accurate, but it helps to have the target box in the middle, which gives you a marked spot to align the arrow for maximum accuracy. My biggest complaint is that the “Agent” brand is a poorly executed gimmick that doesn’t benefit functionality. “Secret messages” are on the arrows that can be “decoded” by a piece of red plastic that comes with the toy. If you could somehow attach your own secret decoded message to the arrow, it might be a little less of a gimmick, but considering the arrow whistles while it flies (a cool feature on its own), it sort of destroys the whole “covert agent” vibe. The messages are also ridiculous–“LOL!” “Run!” etc. The toy comes with a “laser targeting reticule,” which is a useless red light that projects onto a screen at the front of the blaster, not improving and possibly hindering accuracy. The arrows fly far. As I was writing this, I was trying to estimate the distance that the arrow had flown across my yard and my ballpark was 80 feet. I second guessed myself because it sounded too far, so I decided to check the distance that Nerf claims on the package: 85 feet. It’s not an exaggeration. A well-centered arrow shot will fly fast and hard, really giving you that Katniss/Hawkeye feeling. There are a few minor things that I still desire: a model geared toward the boy market is essential because this thing is just too cool. Finally, I think a real quiver would ratchet the experience from Robin Hood to Legolas (an improvement). Currently, Nerf supplies you with one “quiver,” which is a clip that attaches to end of the handle, allowing you to store three arrows. A back-strapped bucket-like traditional quiver does not, to my knowledge, currently exist, but would make the experience complete. Buy this bow and arrow. Whether you’re cosplaying as Katniss or Hawkeye, hunting zombies at school, or you’re the top sniper in your local Nerf wars, this set will serve your needs better than most blasters Nerf has to offer. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews Was this review helpful to you? | Comment Reply 17 of 18 people found the following review helpful Good quality, 8 year old loves it, September 2, 2014 By Amazon Customer – This review is from: Nerf Rebelle Agent Bow Blaster with purple arrows (Toy) Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What’s this?) I have an 8 year daughter who is generally into American girl dolls, stuffed animals, and Monster high. She recently went to a birthday party and before going went to Target to pick out a gift with my wife. I was a bit surprised when they came back with a Rebelle Bow set. I gave my wife a quizzical look and she simply said that my daughter gravitated to it the moment she saw it and didn’t want to pick anything else as her gift to give. My daughter assured me it was a hit with the birthday girl as well. So I wasn’t to worried she would like one of her own and she was thrilled when she pulled it out of the box. Nerf does make fairly tough toys that have a better build than other toy weapons. The Rebelle line is no different. Colors and style wise the bow looks great. You have to snap the two sections together, tighten a screw, and add batteries. Takes just a minute or so. The bow shoots very well with god range. Easily crosses our backyard. The three arrows a fairly tough as well. They have cut outs on them that whistle when shot. Heads of arrows are soft. Easy to shoot after spending a few minutes demonstrating the proper technique. The “agent” part of the set just means they can read some pre-written words on the arrows and didn’t hold my daughters attention long. The bow however is great and she really enjoys it. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews Was this review helpful to you? | Comment Reply Leave a comment Cancel replyYour email address will not be published.
