This is an update on my previous posting.
This is not my go to awl. I bought a couple of Vergez Blanchard awls but they are smaller. I just completed a project and this awl went thru 4 layers of leather. I thought it was small, but it’s actually medium size and you will need to mark medium to bigger holes.
I would just prefer to have the handle flat so I can orientate the diamond blade correctly.
This is a very good brand..

This is a wonderful little awl. Our turn-shoe class bought them on the instructor’s recommendation, and we have all been very pleased with our purchase! The handle is of nice quality and has a pleasing shape. The business end is well made and the diamond shape is easy to use and leaves unobtrusive holes that close around the sinew.
