On the plus side, this has an updated and modern look. The metal parts are brushed and the shade is a nice linen texture. I found the installation fairly straight forward. One nice thing is that the top of the metal bar pivots a bit, so that the lamp shade will automatically level itself (something I was concerned about with installation).
The unit comes with various sizes of “poles”, each of which are threaded female and male on the ends and can be screwed together to create an approximation of the height you want.
The first thing I noticed when turning on the light after installation is the odd shadow that it casts on the ceiling. It’s hard to describe, but it makes the shape of two rectangular areas that shoot out at angles from the lamp.
The second thing I noticed is how utterly bright it is if you sit too close to it. I’m planning on lowering it to see if this helps. Unfortunately you have to almost disassemble it to adjust the height. Overall it looks cool, but it’s a bit of a pain to get setup.

This light is great. We have it in our dining room. No need for the additional extension rods. It hangs beautifully over our table and produces enough light for our table of 8.

Simple design, perfect for my dining room, enhances my rectangular dining table and blue/black color scheme. Clear smallish globe bulbs look nice.
Installation was straightforward. It did take me three attempts to find the “right: length combination which ended up being about 33″ from the table to the bottom of the fixture. Ceilings are 84” tall and I used combination of small and middle length pole.
