This reel has been absolutely perfect for me. I started fly fishing about three months ago and have been fairly obsessed since the moment I hooked my first fish (a beautiful native rainbow outside of orange county, CA). I have been using this reel paired with a 5/6 weight Eagle Claw featherlight rod, and 5 weight Scientific Angler Air-Cel fly line. The whole set up cost me about 85 bucks, and it feels and casts like a much nicer set up. I have caught about a dozen trout with the biggest being a 10″ brown in Connecticut, as well as a number of good sized bass, perch and hundreds of sunfish. The reel is holding up great even with a few hard knocks on concrete. I am beginning to look into upgrading but this reel will stay ready to go at all times. If you need a first reel, or a back up reel, or just love the gold color, grab one.
