After playing with this set for several months, the chess pieces slowly begin removing areas of the frosted squares. We had to get a sharpie and remark the squares. I’m purchasing a new set today because my kids enjoy playing chess. I’m investing in a more durable set.

I bought this exact chess set at the local WalMart for half the price of what its listed online.
For the money there are no complaints, but its obviously a very cheaply made set. The felt pads on the bottom of the pieces were peeling off as soon as I opened it. The pieces themselves had very obvious casting marks (sharp edges down the middle where they came out of the mold). The glass plate/board has a very cheap frosted print on it…it scratches off very easily and would start showing wear the first time it was used.
For me this was simply a visual piece (used it for a photography project), so it served its purpose very well. For those who are considering this as a quality chess set to use on a regular basis, you’ll probably be disappointed.
