I begged for this for Christmas and my husband obliged. We opened it and began playing and it is so awesome. The “purse” itself is very sturdy and heavy, which pleased me. I was worried since it was plastic, but it is solid and so easy to operate. The three embossing folders it comes with is a nice various beginner set (polka dots, swirls, borders, and a little flower image). That was the main reason I wanted the KIT instead of just the machine: for the embossing folders. It does have a limit to the size of what you can emboss, but I make cards and this is perfect for creating embossed backgrounds or embellishments. You cannot beat the value for the money and I would recommend it to everyone!
Follow-up note on 6/28/11: I was feeling limited by the folders to buy, so I purchased a Cuttlebug A2 embossing folder (the argyle one) and thought I’d just take a shot to see if it works. It works perfectly, even though it’s a different brand. That’s great because then there’s even more folders to use! Some of the folders that came with the kit plus some of the cardstock I use seem too thick so that it actually cuts the paper more than embosses, so I was pleased to see that the Cuttlebug one I got didn’t do this at all! So feel free to purchase another brand of embossing folders, just be sure that the dimensions will still fit in this embosser – the slot is only so wide!

(Please note that I only have the machine and not this kit. However, I’m pasting this review that I’ve written elsewhere onto here in order to clear up a common misconception)
I just got this for my birthday a little over a month ago and I absolutely love it! However, my main reason for writing this review is to clear up a major point of confusion. A lot of folks have been miffed that they can only use A2 (4.25 x 5.5) sized folders in the Texture Boutique. I’ve been wanting an embossing machine for awhile now and couldn’t justify paying for a cuttlebug. So I personally did a lot of research trying to figure out if the machine would also take 5×7 folders as well. After perusing the web for a while all that I could find was a few side comments that it could but nothing that was really concrete evidence. Thus, I’m getting on here just to inform everyone on what sized folders I have successfully used in my Texture Boutique:
~Sizzix folders in A2 sizes(I don’t have a Sizzix 5×7 yet so I’m not sure about that one) ~Cuttlebug folders in BOTH A2 and 5×7 ~Darice folders in BOTH A2 and 5×7. I would suggest using two shims* if you have them. If not, cut a cheapo plastic cutting board to use as an extra shim. ~M-Bossabilities in A2 (Don’t use any shims! Since these are reversible they’re rather thick!) ~M-Bossabilities in 5×7 works only if you shave the extra space off on the sides. The folder was maybe a little over 1/8 of an inch too wide so hardly anything had to be shaved off. ~Stampin’ Up embossing folders
In conclusion, this post is now the evidence that you can use other sizes of embossing folders, by other manufacturers as well, and that it STILL WORKS!
*I purchased an extra set of embossing plates for a few bucks on Joanne’s which is why I have two shims. However, I initially bought it in preparation to experiment with nestabilities one day.

The texture boutique makes a great embossed image. It is supposed to only be used with embossing folders. The opening for embossing is only around 5″ wide, so you can only use folders that aren’t any larger than an A-2 card. That means it can only be used for embellishments in scrapbooking. I have seen demonstrations with long embossing folders sandwiched between other machines long cutting mats. I was also surprised at the quality of the machine, it actually feels pretty sturdy. It will move around a little since it doesn’t suction to the table and needs to be cranked a few more than other machines, but I don’t that is a big deal. I am really happy with it since I only wanted to emboss and already own an electronic cutting machine.
