I received thr Sportly Table Tennis Spintermediate Ping Pong Paddle for free in exchange only for my honest unbiased review of the item. I have never been a professional table tennis or ping pong player, but I do enjoy playing as a hobby. I was pleased to get the opportunity to test a a paddle that met ITTF regulation. I spent about an hour playing table tennis (ping pong) with some friends using this paddle and I was surprised to find that there was a very real difference in the quality of the sportly paddle and the paddle I got from Walmart. The sportly paddle was much more comfortable in my hand, it gave me a great rang of control, and it allowed me send the ball flying at a faster speed. I would recommend sportly paddles to any table tennis or ping pong player no matter their level of experience. In my opinion sportly paddles would also make a great gift for table tennis or ping pong players.

Summary: Definite step-up from the standard paddles you typically see with recreational table tennis sets.
I found this paddle to be noticeably heavier than the recreational paddle I’m used to – it weighs 5.4 oz vs 4.3. The weight is biased towards the head of the paddle, where the recreational paddle I’m accustomed to is more evenly weighted. A lot of guys at work (there’s a rec room with 4 tables) have the nicer paddles so this still compares well.
The key benefit to this type of paddle is that the ‘pips’ (rubber nibs) face in while the surface is a tacky rubber which can give you a lot more spin – if you know how to curve your shot .
I dinged this paddle a star because it has a very strong plastic smell, also, you have to peel off the plastic protective layer to get to the tacky layer, and this tore several times, making its complete removal a real pain. Finally, the bottom of the paddle is simply squared off – no rounding at all, and the top edge isn’t finished quite as round as I would have expected for the price.

This is certainly one of the prettiest paddles I’ve ever used. It has some lovely wood that is not only beautiful but gives a nice feel in the hand. I would rate this slightly higher than the Stiga Apex, they play about the same. Both have a good paddle surface grip and are still good for a fast game. Reasonable price for a good beginner or intermediate paddle.

|Great Beginner Paddle,
I would rate this slightly higher than the Stiga Apex, they play about the same. Both have a good paddle surface grip and are still good for a fast game.
Reasonable price for a good beginner or intermediate paddle.
