I bought one of these primarily to organize my trunk, but I keep finding new uses for it. This thing literally goes everywhere with me now. I use it more for camping and tailgates than for anything else, and it’s perfect for keeping things organized and off of my table top. But, it’s just as handy to have in the trunk every day to organize groceries and other essentials. The insulation works well, although I use mine more as dry storage than as a cooler. Packs up smartly. Overall, great and really useful product.

I was using a flimsy organizer in the back of my SUV primarily for holding plastic grocery bags so the contents didn’t spill out. It worked but not as well as I would have liked. Since I live in a hot climate I also had a small cooler in the back. In the summer here the outside temperature can hit 110 and it’s not uncommon for the interior to reach 150+. It takes awhile to cool that down and things like ice cream are never quite the same.
The Tailgaterz is very well made. Unlike my flimsy organizer the sides stand up and don’t flop over. While it doesn’t have as many compartments as my previous organizer it’s about the same size so you can just put more bags in the two outside compartments. Fully extended it’s about 32 inches. The two outside compartments are 10 inches square (inside dimension) and stand about 9 1/2 inches. The center cooler compartment is about 11 inches square and stands about 12 inches high. The sides and top of the cooler aren’t very thick which translates into not a lot of insulating material. But, it works fine for my grocery runs and I think it’ll take more than a half day for the ice to melt. The container folds into itself and held with Velcro straps. When not in use, I just fold it up and leave it in the back of my vehicle.
Two complaints. First, the cover on the cooler compartment opens to the side. I would prefer it if it opened front to back so if I’m using it as a compartment, i.e., not as a cooler, the top wouldn’t get in the way. Second, it would be nice if the bottom of the organizer had some Velcro strips to help stop the organizer from sliding on the carpet inside my SUV. Both of these issues are minor and don’t detract from a well-made, useful product that I hope to be using for quite awhile.

This is a great, versatile cooler. Folded, it is fairly compact (about 12″ x 12″ x 6″). Unfolding it is versatile as well. You can just use the cooler part (the side bins can stay collapsed thanks to the velcro closures) or expand it all to hold a good amount of non-perishable items. The cooler itself is well insulated and lined with a thick, waterproof plastic material. The interior easily holds a 12-pack of sodas or beer plus ice and packs, plus a few other food items (or a mixture). There is both a set of carrying handles and a shoulder strap, making it ultra convenient to tote around.
I would not suggest that you fill the side bins and carry it that way; if you have light items, maybe…but anything heavy could topple the bag. It’s more for a stationary set-up in the back of the car or for a tailgate rather than transport at full capacity. We’re actually planning on using it when we’re out on the lake on the pontoon boat for easy porting and containment of our food and utensils. It would have been nice to be able to further compartmentalize stuff in the side bins, but that’s a minor issue. As it is, this is a good value and a sturdy, versatile item that can be used for organizing and shopping as well as for parties, tailgating, picnics and more. I’m actually thinking of purchasing one as a gift!
