Negative first: Ok, so the pieces do NOT all lock together nicely as do ‘normal’ jigsaw puzzles, but who cares really? The makers of the puzzle did their best to keep the shapes of the continents, countries, states, provinces, seas, etc. so of course there will be some really odd shaped pieces and even a lot of flat-sided pieces within the puzzle. Once it’s all together though it stays put nicely, however in the mean time it might be a little frustrating for smaller fingers. A suggestion for this problem is to simply put the puzzle together on a non-slip surface … and also if you have a smaller child it would be best to do it as a family. We have only put it together once but did so on our dining room table (oak … slippery). Hindsight says a piece of felt or rubber or something similar placed UNDER the puzzle would have made the job a lot easier.
Now the positive: This was a fun family project and all of my children are 16 or older. We all learned a lot about world geography … I found myself saying “it’s probably in Africa” quite a bit!!! Even with a large world map on the wall in our dining room I realized how I never really thought about how many countries are actually IN Africa but now I know. I now see that large world map a lot differently and we all look forward to assembling the puzzle again.
Another positive is that I believe it was a very fair price for the product.
Neutral thoughts: Before I got the puzzle I was wondering what it would look like. I wondered if each state in the US would have its own piece? No, they do not. Some of states, provinces, countries, etc. do SHARE a piece and the pieces are not EXACTLY the shape of the state, province, country, etc. This did not take away from the learning experience though.

The Global Puzzle is both fun and educational. I am an adult who has always liked jigsaw puzzles. This one is a terrific educational tool for both children and adults. The countries of the world have changed quite a bit since I was in school. The puzzle is also attractive. My only complaint is that some of the pieces do not interlock.
