Feilun has hit a home run with the FT009 RC Racing Boat. I have been watching some other videos that users have posted but I don’t think they really capture how fast this little boat really is or how much fun it can be. It goes about 15 mph on a full charge for a few minutes.
I do want to state that I was provided a sample for review purposes but my thoughts and comments are my own, so take from this what you will. Also, Amazon limits reviews to 100 megs, so I will leave a link to my high resolution video in the comments section.
Feilun has done a lot of things about this boat right and not a lot wrong. Let me start with the boat itself. It comes with a powerful water cooled motor which does a great job of keeping the motor cool. The boat also has a great watertight seal which is crucial to keeping this boat functioning and working properly. I reviewed another small RC racing boat and on two runs it got water inside the hull both times. That will kill a RC boat, so the fact that I had this boat upside down and drove it under water in reverse and water did not get in is a testament to how well this boat was designed and engineered. The 1500 mAh Li-Po battery will last 10 – 15 minutes depending on how hard you run this boat and how many breaks you give it. I found that if I took the little breaks that when I did gun it again it would really go full throttle just like the battery was new. If you look online, you can find replacement parts pretty easily as well as a bunch of pretty solid reviews for this boat. This is another advantage of buying a hobby grade level product instead of a toy that you just throw away once it breaks. This is hobby grade but entry level as there are other RC boats out there which are a lot more expensive and go a lot faster (like 60+ mph fast).
I do wish it came with a second battery. This way you could take both batteries with you to the water. The water cooled engine does a great job at keeping the motor cool and if you gave it a 10 minute break in between runs you wouldn’t burn up the electronic speed controller and receiver. I also noticed that this boat would make nice, sharp right turns but make less sharp left turns. I found this out while I was making figure 8’s in the water. I wonder why this is as sharp left and right turns would really be a lot more fun. I suggest the manufacturer look at this and their rudder servo to see if they can find a way to make this boat carve it out a little better. The transmitter is nice, nothing fancy but gets the job done. It does require 6 AA batteries so be prepared to provide that upon receiving this boat. Would be nice if they came with the boat but this is pretty typical, especially when 6 batteries are involved. I would also like to see the transmitter beep when the boat gets close to being out of range and when the battery on the boat is nearing low voltage cutoff (LVC). Basically, this would prevent you from having your boat stuck out in the middle of the lake when your battery dies. You should be able to avoid this with good common sense, your boat will slow when it is running out of juice. Also, it does have a pretty good range on the 2.4 GHz transmitter, I think the manual mentioned 300m but you should never have the boat anywhere close to that far away from you. Again, these are just suggestions to make a better product – not really negatives as common sense plays into operating this boat.
This boat has a rudder servo which controls the rudder. The servo gives the user proportional left and proportional right, so the harder you turn the controller the harder the boat turns, same with the throttle.
One feature which this boat has which is key is the self-righting capability after capsizing. If you quickly flip the boat from full reverse to full throttle and then back to full reverse and full throttle if you catch the timing just right the boat will flip itself over. This is a key, key, key feature and should not be overlooked when deciding what RC boat to choose.
These are my thoughts on this boat. I like it a lot and I am not just saying that because I got a free sample. It is a very solid little boat and I encourage you to research it and you will see what I am talking about. They also make a smaller version of this boat, the FT007 and a brushless version the FT012. You can also pick up an extra battery for about $12. The boat also comes with nose guards which are a good idea and I think the graphics are pretty sleek and sharp. This boat does a lot right and very little wrong but has some room for improvement. If you are looking for an entry level RC racing boat, don’t really want to spend a lot of money, want something that will work and that you can find replacement parts for pretty easily, this is going to be a good choice for you to get started in the hobby.

Playing with an RC boat has never been more enjoyable. It was way too much fun. I was very impressed by the build quality of the boat. It feels very solid and after using it I can say for sure how sturdy it is. The setup was very easy. The boat comes with an instruction manual to guide you step by step. The size of the boat is pretty good- 460mm (18.11”) Width: 125mm (4.92”) Height:118mm (4.65”) It goes upto a maximum speed of 30 km/h (18.63mph ); control distance: about 150m Package included: 1x RC boat, 1x Show carriage, 1x charger, 1x Li-ion battery pack, 1x Remote controller, 1 x Instruction manual It is one of the best out here in the market and hope my video helps you to see how efficiently this works. Be it a kid or an adult, you will love this product with age no bar.

I received this item to test and review, so made a short video talking about it.
I have not had a ton of experience with RC boats, so I cannot speak from a position of authority. However, I have to say that this little boat was really fun!! I charged the battery up fully and got about 25 minutes on the water before the battery was low. The boat itself is made from a nice looking plastic, and it houses a large electric motor and a steering rudder system along with a receiver for the radio controller.
The controller is very responsive and easy to use, even for a newb like myself. Please see the video for proof of that. The included stand is really cool for keeping the boat on a shelf when not in use, and it actually looks really cool sitting up there! The included nose cones are really nice if you happen to have rocks or logs that the boat may run into.
One really neat feature about this boat is that it will not work unless it’s in the water. There is some sort of way that the system senses water pressure in the cooling system which makes it power on. The trim controls on the remote are super helpful if you want to get more throttle sensitivity or correct the steering on the boat.
Overall I would say that this is a really cool little boat that will give you lots of fun on the water!!
