It’s a 3.5 channel remote control helicopter, which has a better degree of controllability than some other low cost remote control helicopters and gyrocopters. It has attractive partly shiny and partly matt blue coloured bodywork, with 4 matt black coloured main rotary blades, and looks good on the ground or up in the air.The helicopter is a relatively compact airborne device, measuring about 4 inches (9.5 cms) tall, by roughly 1.25 inches (3 cms) wide, and approximately 7.5 inches (18.9 cms) long. The span of the main rotary blades is about 7 inches (17.4 cms), and the span of the smaller rotary blade on the tail is 1 inch (3.4 cms). The helicopter is powered by an in-built battery which you charge up using the supplied 2 feet long USB charge lead. You plug one end into an adapter located on a small lead at the base of the helicopter and the USB end into your laptop, desktop PC or USB compatible socket plug.It takes about 40 to 50 minutes to fully charge up the helicopter from flat, which then gives a flying time of roughly 6 to 8 minutes. An LED on the charge lead illuminates red when charging, and switches off once fully charged. The product comes with a spare set of two main rotary blades and one tail blade. The remote control is powered by six AAA sized batteries, which don’t come supplied with the product. The battery compartment is on the base of the remote control, it’s easy to open and shut. The remote control measures approximately 4.75 inches (12 cms) wide, by about 3.5 inches inches (9 cms) front to back, and roughly 2.25 inches (5.5 cms) tall. The top of the remote control has the power on-off button and two joysticks. The left joystick controls acceleration and the right joystick controls direction. There is also a rotary dial control for trimming, to take control of the helicopter if it is rotating too much to the left or to the right. The top of the remote control has a concealed in-built charge lead, which lets you use the batteries in the remote to power up the helicopter, which is a very useful feature. The lead is hidden in a small compartment which is easy to open and close. A small LED on the remote lights up green when it’s charging the helicopter, and turns off once the helicopter is fully charged. It took my 12 year old daughter about an hour of careful practice in the garden to get used to the controls. We have another small remote control helicopter, and a gyrocopter, but this one has a higher degree of controllability. The remote can control the helicopter up to a distance of very roughly 10 metres, and obviously weather conditions, mainly wind speed, have an impact on how easy it is to maintain stability in the air. The joysticks and buttons work pretty intuitively and they’re not a Herculean task to master. The manufacturer recommends a minimum age of 14 for this gadget, but my daughter is slightly younger than that and she had little trouble getting to grips with this device. Any teenager who frequently or even occasionally uses remote controls for game stations like the X-Box 360, X-Box One and the Sony Playstations PS2 and PS3, shouldn’t have any real practical difficulties coming to terms with flying this little helicopter. The helicopter comes with a user guide booklet, which is written in plain English and easy to follow. The booklet includes some very helpful flying practice routines. All in all, this remote control toy is great fun, and is a nifty little gadget for use in the garden, park or other open area. Recommended.Thank you very much for taking the time to read this review.P.S. Disclosure – Please note that a supplier provided me with this product free of charge in exchange for an honest review.
