This project was a lot of fun to put together and fairly easy. It took me 1 or 2 hours to put together and worked the first time I powered it up. The only thing that I wish they would have done with this kit is to have four different color LED’s like the original Simon game had. But overall, the game plays pretty much the same and is fun. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews Was this review helpful to you? | Comment (1) Reply Cool, simple, and fun to play!!, March 28, 2015 By Tony W. – Verified Purchase(What’s this?) This review is from: Velleman MK112 Brain Game (Simon Says) (Misc.) I can’t say enough good things about this little item! Soldering everything to the board is a cinch, except for the battery pack. If you buy this for your kid, chance is they’re probably going to need an extra hand in soldering the jump wire from the battery pack to the circuit board, not to mention holding the board and battery pack together due to the spacers that are included in this. So it’s not exactly for beginners. However, it only took me about 30 minutes to assemble. Used 60/40 solder since this kit doesn’t come with any lead-free solder. It’s actually a very challenging game on any level you play. I’d like to replicate this item on a larger scale and use some of my own mods to make it bigger. The actual circuit board is only about 2.5″ tall by 2″ wide. My only wish, is that they had included 4 different colored LED’s instead of making them all red. Once my new shipment of LED’s comes in, I might desolder & remove 3 of the red ones and put in different colors. But a really cool and simple DIY kit. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews Was this review helpful to you? | Comment Reply Great kit for beginners!, May 11, 2015 By compzone9 – Verified Purchase(What’s this?) This review is from: Velleman MK112 Brain Game (Simon Says) (Misc.) Great kit for a beginner or to practice soldering various components. I love the auto-off feature. You must be careful to orient the LEDs properly and not let the soldering iron be on the lead for more than 2 seconds, otherwise it will damage the LED. This is just common soldering iron knowledge for small electronic components. Be sure not to let the battery holder rivets get too hot when soldering the lead to the board; otherwise it will melt thru the plastic battery holder and not complete the connection from the batteries. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews Was this review helpful to you? | Comment Reply Leave a comment Cancel replyYour email address will not be published.
